I've Got A Right To Sing The Blues

I've Got A Right To Sing The Blues

This has to be one of the most relaxed performances I've heard. It is almost as though these two old friends had decided to sit by the piano in the living room and kick around some favorite melodies. Carrie Smith applies her blues techniques, not only to Arlen's bluesier tunes, but also to the perennial Accentuate The Positive. Roland Hanna sheds his usual sophistication, opting instead, for a lowdown blues style. The result is wonderful and it's the type of CD that will defy you to put it away. My copy hasn't been filed yet. Perhaps next month!
